Vanessa Ki

Provisional Psychologist

Available at the Seaford and Glen Waverley offices

Vanessa is a registered provisional psychologist in her internship year after completing her Master of Professional Psychology. Having worked with children of various backgrounds for more than a decade, Vanessa is also able to conduct sessions in both Mandarin and Cantonese at a conversational level.

Vanessa’s style of therapy is personalised and informed by Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques with a blend of narrative therapy and mindfulness.

For young clients, she also incorporates play therapy in her sessions and is comfortable working with non-verbal children. She approaches therapy with a strength-based and client-centred focus with the understanding of how cultural and individual factors may play a role in creating a safe therapeutic alliance with clients.

Her special interest is in neurodivergence, with previous experiences working with combinations of autistic, hyperactive, inattentive, aggressive, depressive, anxious, stress-related and trauma-based presentations.

Previously, she has worked with individual clients as well as within families, and in school settings with teachers and other allied health professionals. This included assessment and diagnoses, bullying, school refusal, learning difficulties, gender dysphoria and sexual orientation-related stress, grief (and loss of family), life-changing accidents, mental health crisis, family violence and more.

Vanessa’s key goal as a therapist is to allow the client to be heard and respected in this collaborative role.
