Johny Mattom is an accredited mental health social worker having more than 15 years of experience in the mental health field. He holds a Master’s degree in social work, certificate 1V in mental health and certificate 1V in training and assessment. Over these years he has supported clients with complex needs and challenges from multi-cultural backgrounds. He uses the bio-psycho-social model to assess and assist people with their problems to improve their emotional well-being. He has a vast experience working with youth, adults and seniors.
He uses a number of different psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness and Family Therapy. He focuses primarily on depression and anxiety, mood disorders, life adjustments, addiction and substance abuse, relationship conflicts, personality disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. His proficiency in Tamil and Malayalam enables him to run sessions in respective languages.
